The Fine Art curriculum informs and engages our students in the exciting and inspiring forms that art can take. The subject provides an essential outlet for creativity, originality and expression that is vital as students develop their understanding of themselves and the wider world. Developing a critical aesthetic eye, understanding how to construct a creative narrative, as well as understanding career routes and creative opportunities, are some of the essential outcomes of the curriculum.

Photography

Hours taught per fortnight (KS4): 5 Hours

The Photography curriculum introduces our students to the professional world of both film and digital photography. Using techniques that allow students to develop film images by hand, as well as modern digital photography and studio lighting, our learners develop theoretical and practical understanding of this artform. Working independently, as teams, with creative freedom or learning to fulfil industry standard briefs, students get a real-life taste of what it is to be a practising photographer in a range of roles. The subject is enriched through a variety of extra-curricular opportunities which see students engage with competitions and trips that strengthen their practice and outcomes.
