Subject: Travel and Tourism
Hours taught per fortnight (KS5): 9
Through the Travel and Tourism course, students will explore the key components and scale of the travel and tourism industry, developing the skills needed to examine, interpret, and analyse statistics that measure the importance of tourism. Students will gain an understanding of how different travel and tourism organisations work together to benefit both themselves and their customers. The course will provide opportunities to investigate and analyse information regarding the features and appeal of global destinations, travel planning, and the factors and trends affecting the changing popularity of global destinations. Lessons will involve a mixture of theory as well as practical activities, such as problem solving and role play, so that students understand the importance of meeting customer expectations and can develop confidence when communicating with customers. Students will also develop analytical skills while investigating the nature and role of both built and natural visitor attractions, their commercial success, appeal, and the importance of delivering a memorable visitor experience while responding to diverse visitor needs.
