Ethos and Values

At The Spires College, our aim is simple: to make certain that every young person achieves their true potential.  We want children to feel safe and secure at school and so we make sure that our college is welcoming and warm.  Every child at The Spires College is entitled to disruption free learning.  We have very clear expectations for attitude and conduct and these are upheld without exception.

We value academic success and we celebrate the act of learning itself.  We want our community to share a love of learning.  It is important that our students enjoy learning, that they know how to learn and that they develop the resilience and determination to tackle all the challenges that they will meet.  However, it is not just our students who are learners; all staff at the College are encouraged to value their own professional development and so the College enjoys a culture of professional growth.  Teachers enthuse about their subjects and continue to value their own academic development as well as engaging with research into how children learn.  We prioritise the professional development of our teachers so that their knowledge is excellent and their skills are honed, refreshed and invigorated.

We value every aspect of College life and ensure that all students are able to participate in a broad range of opportunities and experiences beyond the classroom.  We want all of our students to leave the College as rounded, confident, independent, young adults, equipped to contribute fully to society, and a broad, rich school experience supports them to do this.

At the College, we have six attributes that we cultivate so that our young people are able to thrive both academically and socially.  We expect our students to be:

Ambitious

Diligent

Independent

Resilient

Creative

Kind

These attributes underpin the culture and ethos of our College.  We seek out opportunities for students to develop, practise and demonstrate these attributes and they are rewarded for doing so.
