Data Protection

The Spires College is committed to ensuring that personal data is collected and used in a way which is transparent, clearly understood and meets both minimum legal requirements and best practice guidance. We describe how we do this in our Data Protection Policy.

The College has appointed a Data Protection Officer whose role is to monitor internal compliance, to inform and to advise on data protection obligations and to act as a contact point for individuals and the Information Commissioner’s Office.

We recognise the need for individuals to feel confident that their data will be used only for the purposes that they have been made aware of and that it is stored securely and for no longer than is necessary. As part of this commitment, we want to ensure that individuals understand the rights available to them if they want to question or raise concerns about the way their data is being processed.

Under data protection law, individuals have the right to be informed about how the College uses any personal data that we hold about them.  We comply with this right by providing ‘Privacy Notices’ to individuals when we process their personal data. Privacy Notices explain how we collect, store and use personal data and can be found by following the links below; if you would like to receive a copy, or have any questions about data protection at the College, please email or write to The Data Protection Officer, Jane Richardson, at the College.

The Spires College, Westlands Lane, Torquay, TQ1 3PE, is the ‘data controller’ for the purposes of data protection law. The Spires College is registered with the ICO under the Data Protection Act.  Our registration number is ZA159941.
