Important Dates

These dates form our intensive transition programme, designed to ensure the process is both enjoyable and informative for students joining us in Year 7 in September.

Specific details of these events will be sent to families during the summer term.

Primary School Visits

During May and June, members of our senior staff and the Year 7 team will visit each student who is joining us the following September at their primary school.

Uniform Ordering Deadline

The deadline for ordering uniform for students joining Year 7 in September 2018 is Friday 22 June 2018.  We cannot guarantee that any items ordered after this date will be received in time for the new academic year.

Transition Evening

Wednesday 27 June 2018, 6-8pm.  This meeting, for students who will be joining us in September 2018 and their parents/carers, will provide general information about the college, its curriculum and pastoral arrangements.  Senior Staff and our Year 7 team will be available to answer any questions and you will also meet your child’s tutor.  Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate any additional family members at this meeting, such as other children or adults who are not the parents or carers of the transferring students.

Transition Days

Thursday 5 and Friday 6 July 2018, 8.30 am - 2.40 pm at The Spires College.  All of the students who have a place at The Spires College in September 2018 will join us for two action-packed days of learning and fun.  Students will experience a wide range of lessons, explore the college site and, importantly, meet lots of new friends.

Additional Transition Day

July (date to be confirmed), 8.30 am - 2.40 pm at The Spires College.  This is for any students that may have missed the transition days on 5 & 6 July 2018.

Transition Support Day

June (date to be confirmed), 8.30 am - 2.40 pm.  This is an additional transition day for those students who may need a more in-depth induction.

Summer School

Summer School will take place during the week commencing 13 August 2018.  Further details and a registration form will be sent to all families during the summer term.

The purpose is for students to:

• Meet their year group and make new friends at The Spires College

• Become more familiar with the college and staff

• Be more confident about starting in Year 7

• Begin to get into the habit of learning after a long break

• Have fun!
