Courses in 2017
Our course offer is divided into three ‘pathways’.
To study courses from our Academic Pathway, you will need to have Grade 5s in GCSE English and GCSE Maths, as well as, at least, three other GCSEs at Grade C or above. You will also need to meet any course specific entry requirements.
Academic Pathway Courses:
To study courses from our Applied Pathway, you will need to have Grade 4s in GCSE English and GCSE Maths, as well as, at least, three other GCSEs at Grade C or above. You will also need to meet any course specific entry requirements.
Applied Pathway Courses:
As long as you meet the entry requirements, you can combine courses from the Academic and Applied Pathways in your personal Study Programme.
There are no specific entry requirements for our Access Pathway. We offer highly-personalised, one-year, vocational pathways for students whose GCSE results indicate that progression onto a Level 3 Academic or Applied Pathway wouldn’t be the right route for them. On our Access Pathway, your Study Programme will be a combination of Level 1 and Level 2 courses, both at The Spires College and with our partner providers. Your Study Programme is also likely to include work experience. If you haven’t got a Grade 4 in GCSE English Language or GCSE Mathematics, further study in these subjects will also be part of your programme.
We are able to offer Access Pathway Study Programmes in the following areas:
- Motor Vehicle Studies
- Hospitality and Catering
- Animal Care
- Computer Skills
- Electrical Studies
If you think that an Access Pathway would meet your needs, let us know. The Sixth Form advice team will work with you to design a programme that will meet your needs and offer you a ‘stepping stone’ to further study, an apprenticeship or employment in your chosen field.
You will find all the information you need about the courses and pathways in our brochure below:
