The Spires College Singers are Christmas Champions!

The Spires College Singers collecting their trophy

The Spires College Singers have been voted the South Devon Christmas Choir of 2016!

The competition was one of a range of festive events in Torquay in the run up to Christmas. The 35 strong school choir sang a range of festive and pop songs and entertained a large crowd outside the Union Square shopping centre.

Jasmine Lee, a Year 8 student at The Spires College, says she is so pleased to be part of the choir. “I am very happy and surprised we won and I am excited to see what we achieve next.”

Fellow choir member, Maddison Stick said, “I have really enjoyed doing the competition because I love singing. It was good to end the year by winning the trophy and performing to such a big crowd.”

Head of Creative Arts and Technologies, Alice Amos, who leads the choir agreed that winning the competition was a perfect way to celebrate the end of term and Christmas. “The choir practised really hard for this and I am delighted we won.”
