Feasting on Maths!
Four Year 10 students took part in the Maths Feast competition held at The Met Office recently.
The event is an enjoyable and challenging competition testing mathematical, team-working and communication skills. It is organised by the Further Mathematics Support Programme and each year the format of the competition changes slightly so that the rounds remain interesting and exciting.
The four students who represented the College were Emily Marchant, James Matrussis, Conner Holmes and Devon Taylor. They were up against 14 other teams from across Devon.
“It was a very enjoyable day. As well as discovering new Mathematics, I was able to enhance my time management skills as all the rounds were timed,” said Emily Marchant. “I would definitely encourage other students to attend the event.”
After the event, the students had an informative and interesting tour of the Met Office.
“The students represented the College extremely well and even received a certificate for winning one of the rounds,” said Philippa Smith, Maths Mentor at The Spires College.
